PH Covid-19 cases climb to 58,850; recoveries now almost 21K
The Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,392 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections on Wednesday, July 15, 2020, bringing the total tally to 58,850.
The new cases include 708 from the National Capital Region (NCR), 198 from Cebu, 86 from Iloilo, 64 from Laguna, and 46 from Cavite.
Additionally, there were 517 new recoveries and 11 new deaths, increasing the total recoveries to 20,976 and the death toll to 1,614.
DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire explained that case doubling time is based on historical data and not daily data, so an increase in daily reported cases may not immediately affect it.
She added that other methodologies like disease modeling are used to predict future case numbers.
