DOH reports 123K dengue cases, says situation manageable

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 123,291 dengue cases nationwide from January 1 to June 7, but stated that the situation is currently manageable.

The DOH observed an increase in dengue cases among children aged five to nine years, with 27,358 cases recorded in this age group.

Despite a slight increase in cases in recent weeks, the DOH considers the situation manageable, particularly with intensified vector control measures.

Data shows a six percent increase in recorded dengue cases between May 11 to May 24 compared to the previous period.

The DOH also noted a low fatality rate of 0.4 percent, translating to four deaths per 1,000 dengue patients nationwide as of June 7.

In line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive, the DOH is enhancing its dengue awareness campaign in partnership with the Department of Education to safeguard students in public schools.
