DOH logs 5,479 new COVID-19 cases

The Department of Health (DOH) reported 5,573 new COVID-19 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,467,269, which is 94.7 percent of all cases.

The DOH also logged 5,479 new infections, increasing the total number of active cases to 54,262 or 3.5 percent of all cases.

Ninety-three new fatalities were recorded, bringing the death toll to 27,224 or 1.76 percent of the total cases.

Of the active cases, 93.4 percent are mild, 1.2 percent are asymptomatic, 2.3 percent are severe, 1.63 percent are moderate, and 1.4 percent are in critical condition.

The DOH noted that five duplicates were removed from the total case count, and 50 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths.

Data from July 23 indicates that 13.1 percent of the 47,000 individuals tested were positive for COVID-19.

All laboratories were operational on July 23, but three were unable to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System.
