DOH hospitals on Code White alert for Holy Week emergencies

All public hospitals and health facilities nationwide are under "Code White" alert from April 13 until Easter Sunday to prepare for potential health emergencies during the Holy Week.

Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa stated that the high readiness status ensures personnel are prepared to respond to incidents, particularly heatstroke, given the expected high temperatures.

The Code White Alert signifies the readiness of hospitals, including the availability of various specialists and operating room nurses, to respond to emergencies at any time.

The public is advised to take precautions such as applying sunscreen, staying hydrated, and limiting sun exposure when engaging in outdoor activities.

Individuals experiencing extremely high body temperature are urged to cool down immediately, as symptoms of heat-related illness include intense thirst and cold sweats.

Herbosa also reminded the public to ensure their families' safety, especially in vacation spots, and to avoid drinking and driving or texting while driving, urging adherence to traffic rules and regulations during the Lenten break.
