DOH Bicol vaccinates over 163k on first day of Bayanihan Bakunahan

The DOH Bicol Region aims to vaccinate 1,152,960 residents from November 29 to December 1 as part of the nationwide "Bayanihan Bakunahan" campaign.

On the first day of the three-day campaign, 163,285 Bicolanos were inoculated, ranking the region fifth nationwide in terms of individuals administered vaccines.

This figure represents 45.80 percent of the 384,320 daily target set for the Bicol Region by the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC).

Albay administered the highest number of vaccine doses at 34,662, followed by Camarines Sur with 50,588, and Camarines Norte with 14,610.

The DOH-CHD in Region 5 expects the number of vaccinated individuals to increase as some municipalities are still submitting their complete data.

The campaign targets the general adult population, minors aged 12 to 17 years old, and will also administer booster shots to healthcare workers, senior citizens, and individuals with comorbidities.

The DOH encouraged remaining unvaccinated individuals to get inoculated, emphasizing that vaccines are proven effective in preventing severe and critical cases of Covid-19.
