DOH Bicol confirms 5 COVID-19 PUIs test negative

The Department of Health (DOH) Bicol regional office confirmed that all five (5) patients under investigation (PUIs) for the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) have tested negative.

Three PUIs from Albay, one from Camarines Norte, and one from Masbate were admitted to different hospitals and have since been discharged after their test results came back.

The region remains free from the deadly disease as of February 13.

In addition to the cleared PUIs, there are twelve (12) persons under monitoring (PUMs) in the Bicol region.

These PUMs, who have a history of travel to COVID-19 affected areas but show no symptoms, are currently undergoing a 14-day quarantine period.

Six PUMs are in Camarines Sur, five in Sorsogon, and one in Masbate.

Health authorities are strengthening surveillance and implementing self-protection and infection control measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
