15 victims of illegal recruitment rescued, 4 suspects nabbed in Palawan

Fifteen victims of illegal recruitment and human trafficking were rescued, and four suspects were apprehended in Rizal, Palawan.

The victims were intercepted while attempting to exit the country through a backdoor route, reportedly bound for Cambodia to work as customer service representatives for a gambling hub.

They were enticed with promises of jobs in Cambodia, Myanmar, and Thailand as customer service representatives and 'spammers,' with salaries ranging from USD 800 to USD 1,000 per month.

However, authorities discovered that the real plan was to deploy them to cryptocurrency scam hubs abroad.

The suspects face charges of syndicated and large-scale illegal recruitment and promoting trafficking in persons.

The victims and suspects were brought to the Puerto Princesa Police Provincial Office for documentation and proper disposition.

The Philippine National Police Women and Children Protection Center-Luzon Field Unit reminded the public that its official Facebook page is open 24/7 to receive reports of human trafficking and online sexual exploitation cases.
