The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has partnered with TikTok to combat illegal recruitment and human trafficking on social media platforms.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac stated that the fight against trafficking has moved to the digital space where false promises target vulnerable Filipinos.
The DMW will utilize TikTok not only for entertainment but also to educate Filipino workers about the dangers of dealing with illegal recruiters.
Under the agreement, TikTok will launch a campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of illegal recruitment.
Unlike in the past, illegal recruiters now operate without physical offices that can be shut down.
The DMW recorded approximately 300 cases of illegal recruitment in the first six months of 2025, an increase from 71 cases in 2024.
The DMW also closed 18 establishments involved in illegal recruitment and removed over 60,000 posts offering fake jobs.
