DMW opens Zambales office, launches OFW assistance app

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) inaugurated a new provincial office in Zambales to serve the rights and welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families in the region.

During the inauguration, 23 former OFWs received livelihood assistance through the DMW's 'Balik Pinay, Balik Hanapbuhay' program.

The DMW has also launched the 'Kumusta Kabayan' app, a digital solution to monitor and provide timely support for Filipino migrant workers.

OFWs can use the app to report abusive employers and exploitative work conditions, providing photo evidence for immediate action and repatriation assistance.

Additionally, the DMW assured that the newly upgraded OFW Lounge at NAIA Terminal 1 will remain operational and sustainable, with reviewed operational costs making it cost-effective.

The upgraded lounge, which includes sleeping quarters and a multi-faith prayer room, has received upgrades such as massage chairs provided by New NAIA Infra Corp (NNIC).

These improvements are part of a broader strategy to institutionalize support for OFWs across major airports, with plans to expand lounges to Cebu International, Clark International, and Davao International airports.
