OFW suffers mid-flight miscarriage on flight to South Korea

An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) experienced a mid-flight miscarriage on a Jeju Air flight from Clark International Airport to Incheon, South Korea, while traveling with her family to Saipan.

Emergency services met the OFW upon arrival at Incheon International Airport and transported her to INHA University Hospital, where her newborn baby was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities reported the baby was in cardiac arrest when found and showed no signs of breathing.

The OFW was reportedly in her mid-30s and between 23 to 25 weeks pregnant.

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) in Seoul is assisting the OFW, with Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac stating that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. directed the assurance of OFW safety and well-being.

The DMW is coordinating with Incheon police regarding an investigation into the exact circumstances of the miscarriage, which may include an autopsy for the baby.
