Darryl Yap faces cyberlibel raps over Pepsi Paloma film teaser

Film director Darryl Yap faces two counts of cyberlibel filed at the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court over the teaser of his film, "The Rapists of Pepsi Paloma."

The charges stem from a complaint filed by TV host and actor Vic Sotto, who alleges the teaser defamed him by implying he raped the late actress Pepsi Paloma.

The Muntinlupa City Prosecutor's Office found prima facie evidence with reasonable certainty of conviction against Yap, citing the Revised Penal Code and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

The recommended bail for each count is P10,000.

In the teaser, a character portraying actress Charito Solis asks the actress playing Paloma if she was raped by Sotto, to which the Paloma character replies, "yes."

Sotto stated that he has decided to seek justice and trusts in the justice system, adding, "I am against irresponsible people especially when it comes to social media."
