DILG records over 40,000 health protocol violations since May 15

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has recorded over 40,000 violations of health protocols in less than two weeks since the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus was placed under general community quarantine.

DILG Secretary Eduardo Año reported that from May 15 to May 26, a total of 43,480 protocol violations were logged.

Within the NCR alone, more than 20,000 individuals were caught not wearing face masks, highlighting a significant source of COVID-19 transmission.

Curfew violations accounted for 26,382 cases during the same period.

In Quezon City, a breach of quarantine rules by one individual led to 14 positive COVID-19 cases after a drinking session.

Additionally, 54 individuals tested positive following attendance at a street "pool party" and a drinking and videoke session in Quezon City.

Secretary Año emphasized the need for law enforcers, government officials, and organizations to collaborate in guiding the public towards stricter adherence to health protocols.
