79% of Filipinos believe health protocol violations caused COVID-19 surge

A Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed that 79% of Filipino adults believe that violations of health protocols led to the increase of COVID-19 cases in the country.

The survey, conducted from April 28 to May 2, 2021, with 1,200 adult respondents nationwide, also found that 11% attributed the surge to the government's lack of preparation, and 10% to new COVID-19 variants.

Regarding responsibility for curbing the spread, 33% of respondents believe it is up to individuals, while 31% think it is up to the government.

Other responses for responsibility included community members (15%), local government units (9%), families (8%), and healthcare workers (4%).

The Department of Health has rejected recommendations to lower public health protocols for fully vaccinated individuals.
