DILG lauds 17 NCR LGUs for ordinances restricting unvaccinated individuals

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo M. Año lauded the 17 local government units (LGUs) in the National Capital Region (NCR) for enacting ordinances that restrict unvaccinated individuals.

Año encouraged LGUs in other provinces to follow the NCR's example in implementing similar measures to boost vaccination coverage and protect the populace.

Fourteen of the 17 NCR LGUs have passed ordinances, while three have issued executive orders to regulate the movement of unvaccinated residents.

These ordinances aim to protect both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals from COVID-19 and prevent the healthcare system from being overwhelmed.

The DILG secretary emphasized the need for unified and swift action from all LGUs to combat the pandemic effectively.

He clarified that the DILG's directive to barangay officials to list unvaccinated individuals is constitutional and necessary for public health purposes under Alert Level 3.

The data collected will be used solely as a reference for implementing local ordinances and quarantine protocols, not for public disclosure.
