DOTr implements no vax, no ride policy Jan 17

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) will implement a "no vaccination, no ride/entry" policy for public transportation starting January 17, 2022, when the National Capital Region (NCR) is under COVID-19 Alert Level 3 or higher.

However, unvaccinated passengers will only receive a warning during the first week of the policy, from January 17 to 23, and will be asked to go home.

Proof of vaccination can be presented through physical or digital copies of LGU-issued vaccine cards, DOH-issued vaccine certifications, or other IATF-prescribed documents with a valid government-issued ID.

Passengers themselves will not be fined, but drivers and operators may face penalties ranging from P1,000 to P10,000 for violations.

Exemptions include individuals with medical conditions preventing vaccination, who require a medical certificate, and those obtaining essential goods or services with appropriate documentation.

The DOTr is deploying "mystery passengers" to ensure compliance with the policy.
