DILG happy over rise in vaccine confidence

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) expressed happiness over the significant increase in vaccine confidence among Filipinos for COVID-19, which rose to 51% from 32% in a Social Weather Station (SWS) survey.

DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya cited the high turnout at vaccination centers and the daily vaccination numbers as evidence supporting the survey results.

Daily vaccinations have reached 229,600 nationwide, with a seven-day moving average of 108,540 as of May 18, an improvement from the previous week.

Malaya attributed the rise in vaccine trust to the collaborative efforts of national and local governments, the medical community, and other stakeholders in educating the public on the benefits of vaccination and its importance in ending the pandemic.

He emphasized the need for local government units (LGUs) to continue social mobilization in barangays to maintain the positive momentum of the national vaccination program.
