Authorities revise drug bust figures downwards

Authorities are defending the integrity of a recent drug bust after the estimated value and weight of the confiscated shabu were revised downwards.

The initial announcement claimed over two tons of shabu worth more than P13.3 billion were seized in Alitagtag, Batangas.

However, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) later revised the total to around 1.4 tons, valued at P9.68 billion.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos stated that the initial figures were estimates and should no longer be a cause for discussion.

Abalos, who had previously presented the initial large haul to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., showed video evidence indicating he had qualified the earlier announcement as an estimate.
