Woman arrested at NAIA over P218.48M shabu shipment

Authorities apprehended Christine Tigranes, the claimant of a P218.48 million shabu shipment, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Complex in Pasay City.

The 28-year-old suspect was arrested by the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group at People's Air Cargo and Warehousing Co., Inc. (PAIRPAGS) after claiming four parcels.

Four parcels containing approximately 32.13 kg of suspected shabu, concealed in machinery mufflers, were seized from Tigranes.

The seized illegal drugs arrived from Zimbabwe on April 13 and were initially declared as "machinery muffler."

Customs officials subjected the shipment to profiling and inspection after receiving derogatory information, leading to the discovery of suspicious X-ray images.

Other pieces of evidence recovered include a Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) identification card, a national ID, airway bill documents, and a cellular phone.
