DHSUD, DSWD link housing aid with 4Ps program

The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) formalized a partnership to link housing assistance with social protection programs for beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

This collaboration officially integrates the 4Ps program with the government's Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program, institutionalizing the provision of housing assistance to ensure that households transitioning out of the poverty alleviation program gain access to safe and affordable homes.

The partnership's initial phase involved awarding the first housing units to three graduating 4Ps families in San Mateo, Rizal.

These homes were turned over during a ceremony at Abuab Towers, a 17-building project offering 4,330 multi-story housing units in Barangay Guitnang Bayan 2, which is one of the pilot developments under the Expanded 4PH Program.

DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling stated that this initiative ensures continued government support, moving from basic needs to secure and decent housing for families striving to improve their lives.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian highlighted that this alignment will benefit the poorest Filipinos, as housing is seen as a crucial complement to cash transfers and livelihood programs for achieving sustained progress.
