DepEd: Budget reenactment won't affect operations, teachers, and learners

The Department of Education (DepEd) stated that the reenactment of the national budget will not significantly affect its operations, teachers, and learners.

DepEd chief media relations officer Dennis Legaspi clarified that existing programs are fully funded under the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA), ensuring uninterrupted operations.

The budget reenactment will only impact the rollout of new programs, with DepEd using the period to finalize implementation guidelines.

Legaspi noted that personnel services are always funded, and while maintenance and other operating expenses and capital outlays are affected, the impending effectivity of the 2026 GAA on the first working day means there will be no real operational impact.

Congress has approved a P961.3-billion budget for DepEd for the current year.
