DENR reviews Monterrazas de Cebu project after flooding

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is reviewing Slater Young's Monterrazas de Cebu real estate development following severe flooding after Typhoon Tino.

The DENR's technical team will conduct an on-site investigation to ensure the project complies with its environmental compliance certificate and other regulations.

Specifically, the investigation will examine the project's drainage system, slope protection, and runoff management.

The Cebu city government has also launched its own probe into the upscale mountainside condominium project.

Mayor Nestor Archival stated that the city government will adhere to the DENR's recommendations and will push for any necessary actions.

Authorities are also considering the enforcement of no-build zones, particularly near waterways and riverbanks.

The Sangguniang Kabataan Council of Barangay Guadalupe has filed a resolution calling for a full investigation into the project.
