De Villa backs Lacson's presidential bid despite party split

Partido Reporma founder and chairman emeritus Renato de Villa affirmed his unwavering support for Senator Panfilo Lacson's presidential bid, despite the party president's endorsement of Vice President Leni Robredo.

De Villa stated that he will continue to endorse and support Lacson, urging other party members to remain steadfast in their commitment.

He expressed surprise at the resignation of Lacson from the party and the subsequent endorsement of Robredo by party president Pantaleon Alvarez, admitting he had no prior knowledge of these developments.

Despite the internal shifts, De Villa acknowledged that he cannot influence the decisions made by Lacson and Alvarez, recognizing them as mature politicians acting on personal convictions.

Meanwhile, senatorial aspirant and former PNP chief Guillermo Eleazar also declared his continued support for Lacson's presidential bid while remaining with Partido Reporma.
