Despite Lacson's resignation from the party leadership, Comelec rules dictate that he is still considered the candidate of Partido Reporma.

Partido Reporma president Pantaleon Alvarez cited Lacson's inability to provide PHP800 million in funds for local candidates as the reason for the party's decision to switch support.

Alvarez has since endorsed Vice President Leni Robredo for president.
