DBM releases P1.68 billion to DA, DSWD, PCG for disaster response

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has approved the release of P1.68 billion to replenish the Quick Response Funds (QRF) of the Departments of Agriculture (DA), Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

The DA received P1 billion to boost recovery and rehabilitation programs in regions affected by African Swine Fever and recent tropical cyclones, including Super Typhoon Uwan.

This funding for the DA will support the provision of inputs for crops, livestock, poultry, and fisheries, repair of production facilities, and cash aid for affected farmers and fishers.

The DSWD received P631.02 million for food packs and relief stockpiles.

The PCG was allocated P53.007 million to bolster its disaster response, including search, rescue, and rehabilitation efforts.

The QRF serves as a stand-by emergency fund for aid, relief, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of calamity-affected areas.
