Gov’t has P11-billion standby calamity fund for Carina aid, disaster relief —DBM
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced that over P11.12 billion in the calamity fund remains available for disaster relief efforts.
This available amount is part of the P22.736 billion allocated under the FY 2024 General Appropriations Act, including a P2.236 billion carryover from the previous year.
The carryover funds can be utilized for disaster relief operations until the end of 2024.
Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman assured that frontline government agencies are prepared and can access their respective Quick Response Funds (QRF) for immediate assistance.
Specific agencies have built-in QRFs, including P3 billion for the Department of Education, P1 billion each for the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Public Works and Highways, and P1.75 billion for the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Other agencies with QRFs include the Department of Health (P500 million), Office of Civil Defense (P500 million), Bureau of Fire Protection (P50 million), Philippine National Police (P50 million), and Philippine Coast Guard (P75 million).
