PBBM orders focused response to typhoon victims

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. ordered a "very focused" government response and aid distribution to victims of Super Typhoon Carina and the enhanced Habagat.

He emphasized the need to understand the situation on the ground to prioritize areas still in the rescue phase and those ready for relief.

Marcos noted that rescue operations and aid distribution can proceed simultaneously and directed agencies to coordinate the deployment of personnel and resources.

Prepositioned aid worth P2.88 billion and nearly 4,500 personnel were ready for search, rescue, and retrieval operations.

As of Wednesday morning, Typhoon Carina had maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h and gusts up to 190 km/h, with Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 over Batanes and Signal No. 1 over nearby areas.

The DSWD recorded 45,328 affected families in 225 barangays across various regions.

Marcos directed LGUs and concerned agencies to coordinate evacuations and dam water releases.
