Infrastructure probe body buckles down to work
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) clarified that the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) will source its funding from the Office of the President (OP).
DBM Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman stated that the ICI will receive an initial P21 million for personnel services (PS), charged to the OP's Miscellaneous Personnel Benefit Fund.
If the OP's budget is insufficient, the ICI's Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) and capital outlays will be charged to the contingent fund.
This clarifies concerns that funding for the Department of Public Works and Highways' (DPWH) flood control projects might be diverted to the ICI.
The ICI was recently created by President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to investigate alleged irregularities in flood control projects.
The commission began its work by meeting with representatives from the DPWH.
