Darren Espanto remembers singing for Pope Francis in 2015

Singer Darren Espanto reminisced about singing for Pope Francis during the latter's 2015 visit to the Philippines, following the Pope's passing at 88.

Espanto shared a clip of himself singing "Tell the World of His Love" on Instagram, commemorating the event ten years prior.

He described the experience as a profound honor and a historical moment he would always treasure.

The performance took place at the University of Santo Tomas during an Interfaith Meeting and Encounter with the Youth.

Pope Francis' death was announced by the Vatican in a video statement, and he had previously survived a serious bout of double pneumonia.

Francis' death comes a day after the pope had made his first prolonged public appearance since being discharged on March 23 from a 38-day hospital stay for pneumonia.

Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Francis was the first Latin American Pope, elected in March 2013.

Other celebrities, including Richard Yap and Leonardo DiCaprio, also paid homage to the Roman Catholic church leader.
