Nearly 1,100 athletes to compete in Damosa Land 5150 Triathlon on Samal Island

The inaugural Damosa Land 5150 Triathlon on Samal Island is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, aiming to place Mindanao on the global triathlon map.

The race will feature a 1.5km swim, a 40km bike ride, and a 10km run, showcasing Samal Island's natural beauty and cultural warmth.

Notable male contenders in the Open division include Davao's Elgin Ong, Diego Ma, Jan Paulo Bucu, Jay Ramos, and Ruark Cadelina, along with regional athletes.

Clare Ciriaco, Ira Kaye Bragat, Ivy Mar Daguplo, and Melgin Hibaya are among the top women contenders.

The event, organized by Sunrise Events, has attracted close to 1,100 athletes, with approximately 660 competing in the main 5150 event and others in the Sunrise Sprint.

Cary Lagdameo, president of Damosa Land Inc., stated that the event aims to uplift the broader community, including tourism, hospitality, local businesses, and grassroots development.

The race will be held at Bridgeport, Damosa Land's marine lifestyle development, highlighting Samal's potential as a world-class destination.
