DA-11 shifts food lane accreditation to online application amid COVID-19

The Department of Agriculture in Davao Region (DA-11) has shifted its food lane accreditation to an online application process to ensure the safety of clients from COVID-19.

This move adheres to social distancing protocols, safeguarding the health of processors and applicants, as stated by DA-11 Director Ricardo Oñate, Jr.

The 'Food Lane Conduct Pass' initiative, which has already served over 1,250 clients as of March 20, aims to ensure the unhampered delivery of food and agricultural products during the enhanced community quarantine.

The accreditation is open to food suppliers, farmer cooperatives, associations, truckers, and other distribution entities for various commodities including rice, fresh produce, livestock, and fishery products.

Applicants must submit valid business permits and must not have existing complaints against consumers.

Additional requirements for livestock, poultry, and by-products include a handler's license and accreditation of transport carriers from the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), and accreditation of meat transport vehicles from the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS).
