COVID-19 positivity, healthcare utilization rates increase
The COVID-19 positivity rate in the Philippines has risen to 24.3% as of May 20, with the National Capital Region (NCR) reporting the highest positivity rate at 25.8%.
The seven-day average growth rate of COVID-19 cases across the country increased by 3%.
In Metro Manila, the healthcare utilization rate stood at 30.5%, while the intensive care unit bed occupancy rate was 27%.
OCTA Research Fellow Dr. Guido David noted that while some areas in Calabarzon are seeing increases similar to Metro Manila, many other provinces are also experiencing a rise in cases and positivity rates.
The Department of Health (DOH) recorded 2,106 new COVID-19 cases on May 19, with projections of 1,700 to 1,900 new infections for May 21.
