Total COVID-19 cases in PH increase to 22,472
The Philippines has recorded 22,474 total cases of COVID-19 as of Monday, June 8, with the Department of Health (DOH) reporting 579 new infections.
The death toll from the virus has risen to 1,011 with eight additional fatalities, while total recoveries have reached 4,637 after 107 more patients recovered.
Of the newly reported cases, 331 were classified as "fresh" and 248 were "late" cases.
Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire explained that late cases may still be recorded if laboratories fail to submit their daily line list on time.
She added that the DOH continues to provide laboratories with technical assistance in the roll out of the COVID KAYA app to expedite reporting.
As of Monday, active cases totaled 16,362, with 95.5 percent or 15,627 being mild cases.
