COVID-19 cases drop to lowest since July amid typhoon impact

The Philippines recorded 987 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total to 388,137, which is the lowest reported since July, partly attributed to the impact of Typhoon Rolly.

The Department of Health (DOH) cautioned that this decrease might be temporary and could be followed by an increase in reported cases in the coming days.

Twelve laboratories did not submit their reports to the DOH on time, potentially affecting the daily case count.

Davao City, Iloilo province, Quezon City, Taguig City, and Iloilo City reported the highest number of new infections.

The total number of recoveries increased to 349,091 with 140 additional patients recovering.

The death toll rose to 7,367 with 49 new fatalities, and 13 previously recovered cases were reclassified as deaths.

There are currently 31,679 active cases, with the majority being mild or asymptomatic.
