Cordillera confirms first COVID-19 case

The Cordillera region has confirmed its first case of COVID-19, a 39-year-old seaman from Manabo, Abra.

The seaman arrived from the United Arab Emirates on March 8 and attended a festival the following day.

He developed a fever and visited a hospital in San Fernando, La Union on March 10, where he was declared a person under investigation (PUI).

Upon returning to Abra, the seaman did not inform authorities of his PUI status.

A hospital in La Union confirmed the seaman tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, March 14.
