Contractors must return P1.4B for flood control scam immunity

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated that contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya must return any ill-gotten wealth from anomalous flood control projects before they can be considered for immunity.

Remulla emphasized that returning misappropriated funds to the state is a prerequisite for the Discayas to be considered as state witnesses.

The Discayas have expressed willingness to cooperate with the investigation and have disclosed names of allegedly involved congressmen, their staff, and Department of Public Works and Highways officials.

Remulla reiterated that individuals who profited from illegal activities should return the money to the state, stating that enrichment at the expense of the system will not be tolerated.

The DOJ is assembling a team, including a forensic accountant, to investigate the financial transactions related to the flood control projects.
