Congress urged to speed up Manila Bay reclamation probe

Congress is being urged to speed up its investigation into the Manila Bay reclamation project following the recent apprehension of nine Chinese nationals disembarking from a dredging vessel.

The inquiry was initially prompted by concerns over national security after it was revealed that all workers on the reclamation project are Chinese nationals.

Representative Erwin Tulfo highlighted that these workers were observed roaming Metro Manila without proper visas, raising questions about their intentions.

The United States Embassy was the first foreign entity to voice concerns regarding the reclamation project due to the involvement of a Chinese company.

This Chinese company, China Communications Construction Co., is also reportedly responsible for constructing air and naval bases in Philippine territories within the West Philippine Sea.
