Comelec to host 5 debates for Eleksyon 2022

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will organize three presidential debates and two vice presidential debates, titled "PiliPinas Debates 2022: The Turning Point", for Eleksyon 2022.

The debates are scheduled to take place at Sofitel Philippine Plaza in Pasay City.

The first three debates will feature a single moderator, while the last two will have two moderators in a town hall format where the audience can directly interact with the candidates.

Comelec spokesman James Jimenez assured that only general topics, not specific questions, would be given in advance to the candidates, with all involved signing non-disclosure agreements to prevent leakage.

The debate series will focus on predetermined topics concerning the nation, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the economy.

Comelec will be receiving questions from the public for the PiliPinas Debates 2022, though there is no guarantee that submitted questions will be asked.

The first Presidential Debate is on March 19, followed by the Vice-Presidential Debates on March 20, and a second Presidential Debate on April 3.
