Comelec ready for presidential debates, Bongbong Marcos to skip first one

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is prepared to host the Pilipinas Debates 2022.

The presidential debates are scheduled for March 19 and April 3, with Town Hall debates on April 23, and vice-presidential debates on March 20 and April 24.

Nine out of ten presidential candidates confirmed their participation in the debates.

However, Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will not join the March 19 debate, with his camp stating they will be in the field with supporters instead.

Comelec Commissioner George Garcia urged the public to watch the debates to be aware of the candidates' qualifications and positions.

The debates will be conducted impartially, fairly, and with equal opportunity for all.

The Pilipinas Debates 2022 will be aired on all channels and simultaneously streamed on Comelec's social media platforms.
