Comelec issues show-cause orders to 27 contractors for alleged election donations

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has issued show-cause orders (SCO) to 27 government contractors who allegedly made donations to candidates during the 2022 elections.

Comelec Chairperson George Garcia confirmed the SCOs were issued on November 3, 2025, requiring the contractors to explain why they should not be charged with an election offense for violating Section 95 of the Omnibus Election Code.

Contractors have ten days after receiving the order to file their responses, with hearings scheduled to begin the following week.

These donations potentially benefited at least 22 candidates, including six senatorial aspirants, five party-list groups, four district representatives, three governors, two vice governors, and one councilor.
