Comelec debunks fake disqualification resolutions

Election Commissioner George Erwin M. Garcia has debunked a circulating resolution claiming the disqualification of several progressive party-list groups and a senatorial candidate, stating these are fake.

Garcia clarified that Comelec has not disqualified any party-lists at this point and that the fake resolutions do not follow the commission's official format, specifically noting the absence of 'whereas' clauses.

He urged voters to rely on official Comelec pronouncements and credible media reports for accurate information and to disregard fake news spreading on social media.

Progressive party-list groups, including Anakpawis Party-list National President Ariel B. Casilao, have called on Comelec to prosecute those behind the fake documents.

Casilao stated that the perpetrators used the commission's logo and letterhead on fake documents with the intent to deceive voters and sabotage the candidacies of progressive party-lists and senatorial candidate Neri Colmenares.
