Comelec holds successful mock parliamentary polls for Oct. 2025 BPE

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) conducted successful mock parliamentary polls on July 26 in preparation for the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) scheduled for October 13, 2025.

The mock polls took place in eight clustered precincts across Marawi City and Butig in Lanao del Sur, and Bongao and Simunul in Tawi-Tawi, with up to 400 registered voters participating.

Voting occurred from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., and the Comelec reported a 100 percent transmission rate, with all election returns transmitted by 10:36 a.m.

Election stakeholders, including poll watchdogs, observed the proceedings, which were monitored by Comelec officials led by Chairperson George Erwin Garcia.

A monitoring center was established at the Comelec main office in Manila to ensure transparency and accessibility.

Only 73 seats will be available in the October elections, as the seven seats previously allocated to Sulu are considered temporarily vacant following a Supreme Court ruling.
