Class suspensions declared in Cavite, Palawan due to monsoon rains

Classes in public and private schools in several cities in Cavite province, including Bacoor City, Cavite City, Dasmariñas City, General Trias City, Imus City, Kawit, Naic, Noveleta, Tanza, and Trece Martires City, were suspended on Thursday, August 29, 2024, due to heavy rains from the southwest monsoon.

Several local government units in Palawan, including Brooke's Point, Kalayaan, Quezon, San Vicente, and Sofronio Española towns, also suspended classes on Thursday, August 29, due to heavy rains brought by the southwest monsoon.

The suspensions in Cavite were recommended by the NDRRMC and approved by Malacañang Palace.

The MMDA suspended the number coding scheme in Metro Manila for Wednesday, and several cities there declared suspensions, with Makati City being an exception.

In Valenzuela City, the local government launched "Libreng Sakay" (free rides) to assist passengers amid flooding.

In Brooke's Point, Palawan, a spillway in Barangay Mainit became unpassable due to floodwaters.

PAGASA issued an Orange Rainfall Warning for Palawan on Thursday morning with the possibility of heavy rains, floods, and landslides.

PAGASA forecasts occasional rains with possible flash floods or landslides in Metro Manila and several other provinces, but anticipates clearer weather in Metro Manila by Thursday.
