CICC warns public of deepfake video of PBBM endorsing online trading platform

The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) has warned the public about a deepfake video circulating on social media that falsely features President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. endorsing an online trading platform.

The deceptive video was uploaded to Facebook by a page that was renamed 'Inquirer PH Insider' but was originally operating under the name 'Deborah Webb', and is managed from overseas.

A technical review confirmed the video used deepfake technology and AI-based manipulation to simulate the President's endorsement.

The CICC stated that this digital deception preys on public trust by blending a national leader's likeness with familiar media branding to promote a potentially fraudulent scheme.

The original video has since been taken down on Facebook following coordination with the platform.

The agency advises the public to critically assess claims made in online advertisements, especially those involving public officials, exaggerated promises, or unverifiable platforms.
