PH supply vessel hit by water cannons near Ayungin Shoal

The Unaizah May 4 (UM4), a Philippine supply vessel, was hit by water cannons from China Coast Guard (CCG) ships near Ayungin Shoal on March 23, causing severe damage.

Exclusive video footage from inside the UM4 showed military personnel scrambling as the water cannon blasted through the ship's interiors for over an hour.

Navy personnel on board reported injuries, with one sailor injured in the left eye, and others heard coughing water.

The CCG vessels also engaged in dangerous maneuvers, including crossing the UM4's bow and a reverse blocking maneuver.

The Philippine Coast Guard escort vessel MRRV 4409 was encircled by CCG and Chinese militia ships.

China stated that its CCG and Chinese Maritime Militia "firmly obstructed the Philippines' vessels, and foiled the Philippines' attempt."

Philippine officials condemned the CCG's irresponsible and provocative behavior, which disregarded international collision prevention regulations.
