Cebu province under GCQ with heightened restrictions until Aug 15
Cebu province has been placed under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions from August 1 to 15.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed the decision, stating it was approved by President Rodrigo Duterte based on the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID).
Laguna and Aklan were reclassified to Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ), and Apayao was also placed under MECQ, all effective until August 15.
The IATF approved shortening the detection to isolation/quarantine interval to less than five days.
Key measures to achieve this include active case finding, tracing close contacts within 24 hours, and immediate isolation/quarantine and testing.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan appealed to the IATF to reconsider placing other cities under MECQ due to insufficient funds for strict lockdowns.
