Cebu City imposes strict lockdowns in 6 areas

Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella announced the implementation of strict localized lockdowns in six areas across five barangays to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The affected areas include Sitio Eyha in Barangay Guadalupe, Balaga Drive to Sitio Cekalco in Barangay Labangon, Tuada Compound in Barangay Tisa, Sitio San Isidro and Abellanosa Compound in Barangay Quiot, and C. Mina Extension in Barangay Mabolo.

Residents of these locked-down areas are prohibited from leaving their homes, and their quarantine passes have been suspended.

The city government will provide food packs and other essential supplies to all affected families.

These granular lockdowns will be in effect for three to 15 days.

During this period, contact tracing and swabbing will be conducted on first-level contacts and suspected COVID-19 cases.

Individuals found to be COVID-19 positive will be extracted from the concerned area and brought to a quarantine or medical facility.

As of July 24, Cebu City has recorded 8,567 COVID-19 cases, with 4,847 recoveries and 455 deaths.
