Cavite placed under state of calamity due to Taal eruption

The entire province of Cavite has been placed under a state of calamity due to the impact of the Taal Volcano eruption.

This action was taken to provide support for approximately 15,000 evacuees from Batangas who are temporarily staying in Cavite.

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla stated that P15 million has been allocated for evacuation centers in Alfonso and Tagaytay City, with more centers opening in Dasmariñas City.

Care packages including food, infant formula, diapers, and medicines are being distributed, and provincial hospital staff are assisting the evacuees.

Phivolcs maintains Alert Level 4 for Taal Volcano, indicating the potential for a hazardous explosive eruption.

Evacuation orders are in effect for areas within the 14-kilometer danger zone around the volcano due to risks of pyroclastic density currents and volcanic tsunami.
