Caritas Manila appeals for donations for Ligtas COVID-19 campaign

Caritas Manila, the Archdiocese of Manila's social action arm, is appealing for donations to support its Ligtas COVID-19 campaign aimed at assisting impoverished families impacted by the enhanced community quarantine.

The campaign's funds will be allocated towards Manna food bags and Caritas Ligtas COVID-19 kits intended for distribution to needy families across Metro Manila.

As of its appeal, Caritas Manila has successfully collected over P6 million in donations.

The organization emphasizes the importance of sharing resources with the vulnerable, particularly the poor and elderly, during the COVID-19 pandemic, promoting a spirit of 'bayanihan' or collective cooperation.

The relief packs consist of essential food items such as rice, canned goods, and noodles.

The COVID-19 kits are equipped with necessities like 70% solution alcohol, washable face masks, liquid soap, reusable gloves, cleaning cloths, and Vitamin C.

Bishop Roberto Gaa highlighted that the effectiveness of the enhanced community quarantine hinges on ensuring food security for the impoverished families.

Church leaders are encouraging the faithful to actively participate in the 'bayanihan' spirit and contribute to relief efforts in any way they can.
