CA confirms Marilyn Barua-Yap as CSC chairperson

The Commission on Appointments (CA) confirmed Marilyn Barua-Yap's appointment as the chairperson of the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

She replaces Karlo Nograles, who resigned to run for mayor of Davao City.

No member objected when the CA confirmed her appointment on Wednesday.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. appointed Barua-Yap to the position on October 16, and her term is set to expire on February 2, 2029.

Barua-Yap has over three decades of public service, including her role as undersecretary at the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) and as the first woman secretary-general of the House of Representatives in the 14th and 15th Congresses.

Senator Cynthia Villar highlighted Barua-Yap's qualifications in Law, Public Administration, and legislative reform as making her well-suited for the role.

Yap intends to build on her predecessors' work, particularly digitalization efforts in the Philippine Civil Service Modernization Plan.
