11 killed in Cagayan bus-truck collision

Eleven people died and five others were seriously injured in a collision between a Florida bus and a Toyota pickup truck in Abulug, Cagayan.

The victims, all members of the same clan, were on their way home to Allacapan town from a wake in Flora, Apayao.

The collision occurred around past midnight at the Ayaga junction in Barangay Lucban when the pickup truck reportedly went straight instead of turning right towards Tuguegarao and entered the main highway.

The Florida bus, en route from Baguio City to Sta. Ana town, then rammed into the pickup truck at the driver's side.

Due to the strong impact, the pickup truck hit a market stall while the bus hit a wall of an establishment.

Ten of the fatalities have been identified as members of the Time family, with the eleventh being Esmeralda Israel.
